Highgate
Hampstead > Highgate is a village sitting above Hampstead Heath on one of the highest points in London. The village dates back to the 14th century and some buildings on the high street and surrounding areas are hundreds of years old. The village is home of several landmarks including Highgate Cemetery and Highpoint, the modernist apartment building designed by Berthold Lubetkin. Highgate is one of the most expensive residential areas in London and home of financiers and movie stars, but the village vibe is down-to-earth and there are lots of pubs and shops to keep the visitor busy.
