No trip to Hong Kong is complete without a HK$2.50 journey on the Star Ferry, which crosses the harbour between Hong Kong Island and Kowloon. The Star Ferry Company traces its origins to 1880 and currently operates a fleet of around ten boats, some of which were built as far back as the 1950s. The ferries sail approximately once every ten minutes from dedicated piers at Tsim Sha Tsui, Central (Pier 7) and Wan Chai. For those wishing to spend more time enjoying the sea air and breath-taking cityscape, the Star Ferry’s Harbour Tour is a more leisurely trip around Victoria Harbour aboard one of the fleet, "Shining Star", which has been refurbished in 1920s style, serving refreshments.
