Hong Kong Park is eight hectares of landscaped greenery set behind the silver towers of Admiralty, close to many places of interest. On weekends families play and domestic servants gather here for photographs, while on weekdays the park makes a pleasant lunchtime stroll for office workers. Hong Kong Park was developed on part of the site of the old Victoria Barracks, where British forces were garrisoned for much of the colonial period. Some old architecture remains, notably Flagstaff House #037, Rawlinson House, and Wavell House, which were once military residences but now house civic offices.
