The so-called “Blue House” is a heritage-listed four-storey 1920s tenement block surviving in a traditional working neighbourhood in Wan Chai district. The building’s original tong lau-style balconies and internal wooden staircases are all preserved. It still houses some residents despite lacking flushing water. It is a typical example of the urban architecture of South China from the late 19th century onwards. The Blue House is situated on Stone Nullah Lane, just off Johnston Road, close to Wan Chai MTR station.
