This seven-a-side rugby tournament played each year in late March is a key event in Hong Kong’s sporting calendar. Twenty-two national teams participate. The 40,000-seat Hong Kong Stadium doesn’t meet the high demand for tickets, which always sell out quickly. The famous hedonistic atmosphere of the South Stand is not to be missed, as fans dress up, dance and drink heavily throughout the tournament. The major nightlife areas of Wan Chai and Lan Kwai Fong teem with revellers in all types of outlandish outfits on the nights of the tournament weekend.
