This magnificent Chinese mansion is located at 45 Stubbs Road and dates back to 1937. The distinctive red brick structure was designed in Chinese Renaissance style by a British architect and stands on a hillside overlooking Happy Valley. It had been owned by two wealthy families before the most recent owner began to demolish the structure in 2007. Fortunately, the demolition was stopped as the government moved in under pressure from conservation groups, and King Yin Lei has now been gloriously restored. The owner was given a plot of land next door as compensation and King Yin Lei is now maintained by the government. Check online for open days if you wish to visit.
