Built at the turn of the last century, Pinewood Battery is a fortification set in the hills of Lung Fu Shan Country Park. During the Second World War the battery was used as an anti-aircraft gun emplacement. It was ultimately abandoned by the Royal Artillery Regiment manning it after severe damage caused by a Japanese aerial attack in 1941, the scars of which are still clearly visible. The site, which is now a picnic area, is a short detour when ascending the Peak on the Morning Trail route #094.
