232: Temple Street Outdoor Restaurants

Most often visited for its night market, Temple Street’s lively if slightly touristy restaurants must not be overlooked. Around the junction with Nanking Street the pavements overflow with outdoor restaurants in a lively melee. Their main forte is mouth-watering varieties of spicy crab, cooked with garlic, chilli or black pepper, but also on offer are excellent prawns, squid, shellfish and a broad selection of standard Chinese fare. Beer girls sponsored by major breweries will plug their brews, which provide a great accompaniment to the food and fuel a rowdy atmosphere here late into the evening.
