291: Yuen Yuen Institute
This temple complex is off the beaten track, nestled on a hillside above the New Territories conurbation of Tsuen Wan. Located in the little village of San Dip Tam, the Yuen Yuen Institute’s main circular pavilion is reminiscent of Beijing’s Temple of Heaven. The temple is devoted to all three major Chinese belief systems, Confucianism, Buddhism and Taoism. It is not particularly geared to tourists but its structures and grounds are both beautiful and peaceful. Visitors can also look around the Western Monastery next door, or visit the Chuk Lam Sim Monastery #290 nearby.
