Built in 1928, the Jade Buddha Temple houses two small Buddha statues brought from Burma in the 19th century. Carved from single, solid pieces of jade, they are considered important cultural relics. The temple has several interesting statues and carvings. Many temples in China do not charge for entry, but rely on donations. The Jade Buddha Temple charges you twice. Twenty RMB is the fee to get in, and ten more to see the jade statues once inside. This temple is worth a visit for the peaceful atmosphere and a glimpse of the monks at work.
