038: Shanghai Exhibition Centre

Originally constructed to celebrate the relationship between China and the Soviet Union, this behemoth of a building now holds exhibitions and conferences. The large indoor and outdoor spaces are ideal for showcasing items such as the yachts at the Shanghai International Boat Show. The building is a major Shanghai landmark and the red star on top of the tower can be seen from afar. This was in fact the tallest building in Shanghai for many years until the “reform and opening up” policies started in the 1980s.
