081: Dingxiang Garden
Credit: Threesixfive Content Ltd
Built in the late 19th century, this was the garden attached to the private residence of Li Hongzhang, a prominent general and politician of the late Qing dynasty. He was presented the Royal Victorian Order by Queen Victoria. Today it is used as a home for retired Communist Party cadres. The whole area is quite private, but there is a public restaurant within the grounds, enabling public access through the gate at 849 Huashan Road. Inside are beautiful gardens surrounded by an impressive wall in the shape of a dragon, complete with an ornate sculpted head.
