247: City God Temple
Foreigners wishing to get to the commercial area in the old Chinese walled city will usually ask to be taken to Yu Garden #251, which actually refers to the small garden at the centre of the hub. When the locals refer to this commercial area, they use the name of the City God Temple, which forms a focal point for the area. People have been coming here to offer prayers and incense for hundreds of years, and this practice continues today. The temple is small but pretty, and the entry fee is RMB 10.
